LAHORE: National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq says there has been no talk in the PML-N on an alternate prime minister.
“There has been no talk in the party on the alternate prime minister,” the speaker told a questioner. Since the apex court has taken up the Panama scandal, there have been rumours that the PML-N is looking for Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s replacement in case of finding no way out.
Mr Sadiq told reporters here on Saturday that the Panama case was in the Supreme Court and “we should avoid making speculations”. “There should not be more debate on the Panamaleaks as the matter is in the SC. We should respect the court decision,” he said.
Replying to another question about references against the premier, Mr Sadiq said: “The speaker’s office is not an investigation forum.” He said there was no justification of sit-in when the SC had taken up the Panama case.
“They (PTI leaders) should respect court’s decision and refrain from influencing the court.”
To a question about PML-N leader Zafar Ali Shah’s statements against his own leadership, Mr Sadiq said he was doing so for not getting (Senate) ticket.
