A staggering 51 tonnes of substances, together with heroin and cocaine, have been burnt at a ceremony organised through the Anti-Narcotics Pressure (ANF) in Rawalpindi on Thursday.
The narcotics torched at the ceremony, estimated to be worth $239 million, have been seized in raids performed via the ANF and from smugglers at airports in 2016.
On the ceremony, ANF Director-Basic Maj-Gen Nasir Dilawar Shah stated the pressure has arrested 1,479 smugglers in the final 10 years, 505 of whom were sentenced.
He stated Pakistan has been freed from poppy since 2005, including that in the previous decade 298t of narcotics worth $896m were set on fireplace.
He stated medicine have been being produced and smuggled probably the most in Afghanistan.
Curtailing medicine smuggling at Pakistan’s western border is a “nice problem for safety establishments”, he stated.
Talking at the instance, Minister of State for Internal and Narcotics Regulate Mian Balighur Rehman stated the medicine being burnt these days have been seized after “a large number of battle”.
He stated curtailing the drug industry used to be exhausting paintings for the rustic, “however ANF is acting this hard activity”.
