Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar held a press conference on Sunday in Islamabad to discuss what he termed the ‘Dawn leaks’ and the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s (PTI) planned Nov 2 ‘lockdown’ of the capital.
Referring to a Dawn report on a high-level meeting, the interior minister said he is “presenting facts”.
“When this Dawn story was published, the decision was taken by the PM – the army chief was in the meeting ─ that there will be an initial inquiry.
Because this is a high-profile probe, senior officials have to initiate this. A legal team, led by our law minister, was also complying. The Federal Investigation Agency and Islamabad police are all complying.”
“After a few days, a discussion was undertaken… It is no secret that at a certain stage i distanced myself from this investigation.”
